Dana Wallace

Dana Wallace, MS, OTR/L, CHT

Dana is a Certified Hand Therapist and Occupational Therapist specializing in Hand Therapy since 2005. She received a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Russell Sage College in Albany, NY and went on to specialize in Hand Therapy, earning the prestigious Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) certification in 2012.

Dana has extensive upper extremity experience and expertise with both children and adults. She works directly with Hand Surgeons locally and has devoted the past eight years to specializing in orthopedic upper extremity injuries of the upper arm, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. She assisted with implementing and developing Hand Therapy programs at orthopedic practices in both Georgia and Virginia. She continues to be an active member of The American Society of Hand Therapists.

Dana has earned the Advanced Casting and Orthosis/Splint Fabrication Certification and brings vast knowledge and experience in the field of Hand Therapy as an Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Specialist. You will be in excellent hands with Dana!

Rachel Friedman

Rachel Friedman, MS, OTR/L, CHT

Rachel Friedman is an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist. She has been an occupational therapist since 2004 when she received her masters in occupational therapy from Boston University and completed her undergraduate work at Washington University in St. Louis. Rachel decided to focus exclusively on hand and upper extremity rehab and earned her hand certification in 2012.

Rachel finds the role of a hand therapist to be very rewarding and loves seeing her patients make such extraordinary gains over the course of therapy! She brings to the professional an expertise in a variety of upper extremity conditions and diagnoses, splinting, and is certified in Physical Agent Modalities such as the use of ultrasound and electrical stimulation. She is an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists and has attended many courses and conferences to better her knowledge of hand therapy.

Rita McVicar

Rita McVicar, OTR/L, CHT

Rita is a certified hand therapist and Occupational Therapist specializing in hand therapy since 1987. She received a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Towson University in Towson Maryland. Rita was among the first occupational therapist in the nation to become a certified Hand Therapist in 1991. Rita has over 25 years of experience treating hand and upper extremity injuries. Her special interests include working with hand and arm trauma, chronic regional pain syndrome and shoulder injuries. Rita has extensive training in static and dynamic splinting and fracture bracing.

Laura Burger

Laura Burger, OTR/L, CHT

Laura Burger, a registered occupational therapist, graduated from Towson University located in Maryland in 2003. Since then Laura has been assisting individuals in being as independent as possible in both an outpatient and inpatient setting. Laura’s specialization is treating injuries to the upper extremity and fabricating custom splints. She has attended a 6-month fellowship at the world-renowned Philadelphia Hand Center in order to provide exceptional care in these areas. Laura then earned her hand therapy certification in 2011.

Laura has worked closely with several hand surgeons which allowed her to observe numerous surgeries, rehabilitate these patients in therapy, and then attend their office visits with them. She enjoys having a collaborative relationship with referring doctors to provide the best patient outcomes.

Beth A. Lewis

Beth A. Lewis, BS, OTR/L, CHT

Beth is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has over 25 years experience as a therapist, including over 17 years as a Certified Hand Therapist. She has practiced in clinics throughout the United States and as a Red Cross Volunteer in Okinawa, Japan at the United States Naval Hospital.

Beth is skilled in the treatment of patients with a variety of diagnoses. She has a passion for mentoring therapists new to the field of hand therapy. Beth enhanced her public speaking skills as a member of Toastmasters International and looks forward to presenting at national conferences.

Allison Shearer

Allison Shearer, MOT, OTR/L, CHT

Allison received her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Biology, with distinction, from the University of Virginia in 2009. Allison completed her graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where she received her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2011. She went on to earn the distinction of being a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) in 2016. As a CHT, Allison specializes in orthopedic treatment of the upper extremity and has a particular interest in treating musicians' injuries. She has contributed as an author to various professional publications including the upcoming seventh edition of Hand & Upper Extremity Rehabilitation: A Quick Reference Guide and Review, International Musician, and the ASHT Times. Allison is currently completing a post-graduate certificate program in Performing Arts Medicine at Shenandoah University.

Cefion Lam

Cefion Lam, OT Aide

Cef is an Occupational Therapy Aide with dreams of becoming a Licensed Occupational Therapist. She earned her BS in Accounting and Information Systems at Virginia Tech and is now pursuing a career change after dedicating 8 years of work in the Accounting field. She is currently taking the required prerequisite courses to continue her education and prepare for OT admissions. At NOVA Hand Therapy Center, she enjoys interacting with the patients and observing them achieve their hand therapy goals. She finds Occupational Therapy to be extremely fulfilling and is very excited to progress in her new career journey.


Christina Nebrich

Christina Nebrich, Clinic Manager

Chris has demonstrated success in the health care field for over 9 years. She has worked in multi-specialty practices and leads with a very hands-on approach. She has developed proven strategies in the management of daily operations of these organizations, including billing and accounts receivable. Chris's goal as the Office Manager of Northern Virginia Hand Therapy Center is to maintain a productive and efficient working environment along with helping the practice grow to its full potential. Patients appreciate the caring and professional demeanor that Chris brings to her job.

Jenny Carr

Jenny Carr, Business Marketing Director

Jenny is our Business Marketing Director and is excited to join the NOVA Hand Therapy family. She earned associates in Business Management and Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College. She has years of experience in veterinary medicine as well as in sales and marketing. Jenny is passionate about education and she is excited to educate the Northern Virginia medical community about NOVA Hand Therapy Center and how we can serve their patients.


Denise Mitchell

Denise Mitchell, Front Desk Coordinator

Denise joined NOVA Hand Therapy Center after spending several years at home taking care of her 2 children. During her time at home, she developed a passion for the health and fitness industry. She became so involved with her gym that she started working toward her certification to do personal training and group fitness instruction, and will continue with this path as time allows. She feels very lucky to be working in an office such as NOVA Hand Therapy as it is a perfect fit to compliment her enthusiasm for fitness while working with such an amazing staff! In her spare time, Denise loves running with her dog, listening to music and spending time with her family. She also enjoys talking with all types of people and personalities and learning about their interests and what makes them unique!
